Originally, this blog was launched to document the legacy of Swami Bua through the remembrances of his students, family and friends. Swamiji passed on July 21, 2010 after approximately 120 years on Earth. “Swami Bua Lives” implies something more dynamic than an archive. How is he influencing his students today, namely yours truly?
My name is Dan Kelly, and I first met Swamiji in 1976 when I was 13. I was proud to be his student for 20+ years, commuting to his New York City classes from Northern Michigan in the 90’s and relocating to Brooklyn twice to have better access. I have continued to practice yoga and explore my potential informed by his teachings.
What motivates us to share our adventure on Earth? Can you gain any benefit from my stories? I have a desire to share and as I’ve learned to acknowledge and trust my desires, that’s what this web presence is all about. Please understand that this sharing is a purely selfish act that has nothing to do with convincing you about anything or changing your behavior. I do not advocate following my protocols, trying the things I try or even thinking the thoughts I think. If you are under 18, definitely close this page right away!
Swamiji loved to laugh and poke fun. Dedication to health and longevity might go along with a willingness to smile, be surprised and relax into cheeky curiosity. As for me, Swami Bua Lives.
